The Carpel Tunnel is a canal of ligaments and small bones of the wrist on the palm side of your hand. Tendons, blood vessels and nerves pass through the carpal tunnel as they make their way from the forearm to the hand. There is a nerve that passes through this tunnel called the median nerve. If the nerve is compressed this may lead to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

- Repetitive wrist movements such as typing, machine work or playing video games
- Genetic pre-disposition
- Autoimmune disorders – Rheumatoid Arthritis
Symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

- Grip weakness
How Trained Physio Can Help!
Your Trained Physio will determine the cause and contributing factors for the management of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Your Physio will provide exercises and stretches that will help mobilise the median nerve, strengthen the muscles around the wrist and stretch the structures around the wrist to help alleviate the symptoms.
Treatment of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Non Surgical Management – Via Physiotherapy as detailed above.
Surgical Intervention – Persistent Carpal Tunnel Syndrome may require Carpal Tunnel release surgery by a orthopaedic surgeon or hand surgeon
